The Shabby Chic Hunt - Ends March 31, 2014

I ran around and grabbed as many of the Shabby Chic hunt items as I could. I think I missed a couple and will have to go back, but meanwhile I wanted to show you these so you could hop around and grab them before they are gone. You are looking for a little bouquet of roses, pink, blue and yellow.

Here is the hunt page with slurls and hints. The hunt prizes are mostly decor and clothing items, but I'm only showing the clothing items I grabbed.

In all pictures - Yesterday's 50L Friday skin from Glam Affair. I checked and as of 10 pm eastern time on Saturday 3/29, it was still there. Follow the beacon.

My shoes in all pics are a Group Gift from Easterling Couture/Slave Dressing Room. There are two sections of gifts at this area. And  a teleport board to get you to each. One area is for modern clothing and one is for role play clothing. Choose the mesh modern clothing teleport to get the shoes. Once you arrive you will need to follow the beacon to get to the gift room area. Stay to your right as there seems to be some kind of invisible barrier on the left. You will find tons of gifts there including the shoes. The group is free to join - Easterling Vogue. These shoes are unrigged mesh and come with a hud for skin tones and also for changing the colors of the shoe itself. 

I found they were modifiable however so I just recolored/adjusted shine on my own. [Right click on the shoe, select edit linked parts on the build menu, click on the shoe or the heel/sole, in the build menu go to the texture tab, click on the color box and choose a color. You may also need to change the bit where it says texture diffuse to shininess and select your level of shine]

As you can see these are a wonderful gift!

I am also wearing the free group gift hair for this week from A & A Designs. I've talked about their group gift every week previously so I'll be brief. Sexy, Free, and Single

This post begins with FREE and really gorgeous hair, available in the FREE BALL at Analog Dog/Point B. The free ball is a pale aqua blue translucent ball found on the beach at the large and unique shop.  From the landing point, follow the beacon to where the ball is located.

Here's a quick little screen grab of what the beacon looks like and also what the ball looks like. It's literally a red arrow like this so just follow it out to the spot where the ball is. You may need to increase your draw  distance if it's set at 32m or less because there's a little distance there between the beacon point and the ball.

 

Anyway, the ball contains 7 free hairs, plus a hud for the splash colors to change the tones. The splash colors are fantasy tones like pink, aqua, purple etc. And the hud allows for some ombre tones and even for tinting. Just buy the ball for 0L!

 

I'm wearing the lovely pop scotch hair today. The hair comes in two pieces, a mesh piece that attaches to the skull and a flexi piece that attaches separately. I recommend you click add instead of wear on the flexi piece.  I used the hud to change the color to this pink and black ombre color.

I know a lot of people have blogged this mesh top and the shorts that come with it from the Asteria Creations group gift. But I just wanted to wear the top and make a different outfit. Sadly, there's no alpha layer for just the top but I found that by wearing a slightly bigger size (medium instead of small) that the top fits fairly well without one.

Edit: unfortunately when I went to the shop to confirm the location of the gift and post a slurl, the gift was removed. It looks as if the shop has been remodeled so it may be the gift will be put back out but it wasn't there today when I looked. 

The jeans that I'm wearing are a gift from Cynful Clothing @ Club 108, follow the beacon directly to them. You will need to join the group to get them but the group is free to join.

My shoes are super sexy pink glitter zebra versions of the Vertigo pumps from N-core and they are FREE as a group gift.  The group does cost 50L to join however, but these pumps are a great pair of shoes.

 

Remember the clear out packs I mentioned at Izzie's? 10L boxes of goodness?

Well my necklace, earrings and bracelets all came from one of those boxes. There are four other colors of the necklace and earring set and both gold and silver versions of the bracelets and several colors in there.  Great value!

 

And this skin. Oh La La this skin. It's so darn perty!

It's a 99L offer at this round of Designer Circle. She's called Leandra and she comes in three tones. She comes with and without cleavage and with a couple of freckle tattoos if you like that look. Appliers are also offered for 99L. Leandra is by WoW skins and she is really a wow. Follow the beacon.

I'm wearing Liner by Boom - Liquid Glaze - Hot Pink  (They are in back of the main store, I don't know, maybe Boom is discontinuing them but they are great, 35L per color)

My nail appliers are from a set by Hello Dave. Get a 35 color palette, both fingers and toes for 99L.


I also want to mention that if you have a few lindens in your pocket while you are at Analog Dog/Point B, you should take a look at their discount hair. There is a large selection of nice hairs, most of them 75L a color pack, a few are 125L a color pack. Still a good deal!

In praise of joining groups - Baby Monkey

There are some shops out there that have group joins that require a fee. They are different amounts and we all have to decide if it's worth it to us to pay that fee to join that group. There are some groups that I think are very worth paying the fee, and this one... is about to have a free join weekend where the usual $250L joining fee will not be applied.

Here's the benefits:

1) Regular and generous group gifts.

 

This is a pic of the current group gift wall at Baby Monkey. The shop sells clothing and shoes and occasionally home decor items.  Be advised also that this shop uses a vendor system so the way group gifts work is that you pay it 1L and then it refunds it to you when it gives you the gift. And you must be wearing the group tag of course.

2) Great prices and refunds on purchases after you've purchased a certain amount. It goes in increments of 5, 10 and 15 percent. Baby Monkey now sells everything in fatpacks of 32 colors, shoes and boots are 300L a pack, clothing items are 150L a pack. But wait, there's more!

3) Group members get all new releases at half price for one week. That's right. Pay 150L for a fatpack of shoes or boots, or 75L for a fatpack of clothing items the first week after release.

4) And as I said at the beginning of the post, Baby Monkey is having a free group joining weekend just a little more than a week from now which means you will be able to join the group, get all these great benefits and not have to pay anything to join. As it says there, the group gift wall will be cleared before the free join weekend but these new ankle boots will be offered to those joining then. And in my experience so far, the owner gives generously and often.  So mark your calendars and don't forget to make room for this group in your list.

Feeling a little Boho today.

This post features a gorgeous FREE group gift skin by Lara Hurley skins. It's an older freebie, from Valentine's Day but super super worth grabbing if you haven't gotten it yet. The group is FREE to join and the gift box contains appliers for Slink hands and feet as well.

The dress I'm wearing is a 1L item on Marketplace and I think it's really unique because of the interesting shape of the skirt and the fringes attached. Click here to go to the item page. And here is the link to their marketplace shop, since they don't have one in world. There are a few other 1L and 10L items there available too.  Be advised that the dress seemed to run a little small to me, I usually wear a mesh small and had to wear a medium instead.

The jewelry I'm wearing is a FREE Midnight Mania gift at Baby Monkey. You do not need to be a member of the Baby Monkey group to hit the board and win the item. The Cabochon Jewelry set comes with Necklace on Spine or Chest attachment points, earrings and bangle bracelets.

 

The next two items, I'm going to call, out of my price range but really good deals. Both of these are more than 70L but I do think they are fantastic bargains and worth considering if you have the lindens.

First my shoes are add ons to the Slink Medium Feet. They are by SySy's and are called simply Bow Wedges. They are available at My Attic @ The Deck for a limited time for 95L, until the end of this month. There are a number of other great deals at the event, so don't delay taking a look around there.

My hair is also an out of my price range/really good deal. The Katniss 2 hair by Catwa is a special promo on Marketplace only. It's priced at only 99L. There's a hud for making the part across the forehead whatever color you like. That link above should take you directly to all the listings for that hair. 

Finally, I'm wearing a FREE eyeshadow from Mock Cosmetics.  Follow the beacon and buy the Easter Egg gift for 0L, it contains 3 free eyeshadows.  I'm wearing Easter Egg 3.

A little bit of schoolgirl chic.

This hair is a free gift from ChiChickie. LIKE them on facebook and then click the Get Gift Code button. Copy the code and go to their main shop, click the Facebook Family giver and put in the code when it asks for it. Voila, you have FREE hair.

 

 The skin I'm wearing is a FREE group gift skin from LoveMe Skins. It's called Hazel and she's lovely. The group is free to join. 

I'm also wearing a FREE group gift from Jazzitude. This skirt is called Deidre and is the March Group Gift. It is mesh, comes in five sizes and also includes a hud for eight pattern choices of skirt. I picked this one to go with this blouse. The group is free to join.

 

The shoes I'm wearing are part of a Newbie gift from Shoenique Designs. The Pointy Heel Pumps come with a hud for resizing and skin tones. You can also directly input your rgb numbers if you have them. You must be 30 days old or younger to snag this gift.

Office Lady Look!

Grab this gorgeous ruffly collar blouse and skirt (attached together as a dress) from Wetherby's for FREE until the group gift design changes sometime this afternoon/evening. So hurry over! The group is also free to join so you can score this lovely dress for absolutely 0L if you go quickly.

This hair is a gift from LCKY (or is it ICKY, hard to tell) anyway, it's a hunt gift for the FemBoy hunt for just a little longer. My bag and belt are from a box of older items at Izzie's Mainstore. There are two 10L boxes near the group joiner and they are chock full of older but still usable items. The belt is the studded belt, which comes resizable or modifiable by hand. I'm wearing the modifiable by hand one that I resized and also tinted the studs so they would look gold instead of silver. (Edit linked parts in the Build Tools menu, click on the prim you want to edit.) The clutch is in a box of several clutches inside the clearout pack, in lots of colors. This is the cream colored one.

My glasses are actually a system inventory item, the Male Designer Glasses.

 

My shoes are above the 70 linden limit but they are just 95L a pair at the My Attic event at The Deck. All items at the event are 95L until the end of the month.

My skin is a full price item by FILTHY, the Chloe skin @ Skin Fair for a few more days. The package also includes a choice of moles, freckles, liner, eyeshadow and lipstick. I'm wearing eyeshadow and moles from the skin pack but my lipstick is a lipgloss from Pink Fuel. Hair - So hard to find - Alli & Ali Designs

This is the first in a series of posts I will be doing on Free or Low cost hair.

Alli and Ali offers a free gift hair for men and women every week for Group Members., plus a second gift hair as a voting gift for Ladies. The voting is on a board with pics to choose what kind of style you'd like to see made next.

The group is free to join. In addition, they have MM boards, 1L promos on Marketplace, hunt gifts and special edition hairs. So here's some of what I found.

 

Melrosa is a former group gift hair in this color. It was free at the time but it's not any longer. I'm just showing you what you could have gotten. You can find this hair in a pinkish color on the marketplace for 1L however.

 

Kattryna is also a former group gift in this color.  You can find it in a dark brown color on the marketplace for 1L.

 

Loreley is the current group  gift hair in the platinum-pink. You can still grab it when you join the group at the main shop and then click the gift bag on the counter. There is also a petites version available for free. The milk chocolate tone also shown here is available on the marketplace for 1L.

I mentioned free voting gifts. Here's a couple of past gifts.

Tyra in this color is a free Voting gift from a couple of weeks ago. You can also find it in a blue black tone on marketplace for 1L.

 

Nantia in the blonde show above is currently available as a free voting gift. Just click the pic you like best and then click the gift bag.  You can grab the black version on MP for 1L.

Here are two more gifts you can find. The first is a hunt gift for the Shabby Chic hunt.

If anyone read Anne of Green Gables as a kid, they may recognize the name. The hair looks like an old fashioned Gibson Girl type do and comes with four colors. In the main shop, follow the rose trail and you can't miss it, just touch the roses hunt object to be given the package.

 

This hair is a gift at the Womenstuff Lounge. There's a whole stack of gifts from various designers there. Keep in mind though that it does cost 50L to join the group. There is also a collection of gifts for Men nearby.

So far I've showed you 13 hairs that are either free or 1L. That's pretty good. Now  let me show you a few hairs I picked up for 50L. These are part of a sale, in special colors through March.

I do want to mention that most of these hairs I had to resize but they all come with a script for resize and for color change any colorable parts. For me, they were too large but a couple of clicks and a little moving around fixed that right up.

You're probably also wondering what I'm wearing.

The skin I'm wearing is a free group gift from FILTHY and the group is free to join. This is group gift #6 2013 in the Beach tone. Luckily I had already purchased the hand and feet appliers to go with the Filthy skin I bought at Skin Fair so I was all set to wear this.

The owner of FILTHY has stated that she will be removing the group gifts from the store soon so hurry down and grab the various items before they are gone!

The dress I'm wearing is from Wetherby's. Every day, Wetherby's puts out a free group gift item, but it is free for one day only. After that, the price goes up, usually to 99L. This dress was a gift from a few days ago. But don't let that deter you, join the group and snag today's item when it is put out. Also, Tuesday's are Menswear day so there's something for you Guys too. Oh, and Wetherby's usually puts their item out in the late afternoon or early evening of the day before. So for example, Tuesday's gift was put out yesterday afternoon and Wednesday's will be put out some time today etc.

 

The pretty little jewelry set I'm wearing is by Krystal. It was a 60L weekend offer.
